Expository Text

Today, I had a studying for a Discourse Approach in Reading.  I learned about the Expository Text, Expository text is written to inform the reader about a specific object.  Generally speaking, expository text contains and explicit or implicit topic sentence with the main idea and the supporting ideas.  These ideas are organized into text structures.  Text structures are author’s arrangements or organizations of ideas in text.  These organizations or patterns include listing of ideas, sequencing of ideas according to a time order, comparing and contrasting ideas, describing characteristics of ideas, discussing causes and effects of ideas and addressing the problems certain ideas present as well as their solutions.  Often the writer provides key or signal words that identify the structure of a paragraph.  For example, a paragraph organized into sequence stats its main idea in the topic sentence, and to support the main idea the author sets out details in a specific order that carries the correct meaning of the text.  Key or cue words include first, second. Third, etc., plus next, then, finally, last, after that, etc.
The teacher assigned me to do worksheet.
Text1: Read the expository text and answer the questions, matched the topic with each paragraph, wrote letter in the space provided. I think that this text is the most difficult.
Text2: Read about how to cope with insomnia, circle the letter next to the best answer, chose a synonym for the word in bold type in each sentence, used appropriate tenses for verbs and singular or plural forms for nouns and wrote any appropriate preposition or verb completer in the blank spaces.
I felt tired about this lesson because I didn’t know the vocabulary, it was very difficult for me. I am worried about doing the exam coming soon.

Problem and Solution

Today, I had s studying for a Discourse Approach in Reading. I learned about Problem and Solution. My teacher describe it for our, it is a pattern of organization where information in a passage is expressed as a dilemma or concerning issue (a problem) and something that was, can be, or should be done to remedy this issue (solution or attempted solution).

After that, my teacher assigned the skill pracetice with us, circle the Problem Markers and highlight the Solution Markers. Then we wrote either Problem or Solution in the margin next to the relevant information and I did the exercise 1: Read each passage. Then (A) wrote a sentence explaining the main idea of the text, (B) wrote a title and (C) created a diagram that represents the information in the text.
I think that in this class is very difficult for me. The vocabulary was too hard and I was confused with cause and effect.
In this class, I like the teacher's speaking because she told about herself's life. It was a good moral support for everyone. I love the teacher. She is a good teacher.

Exemplification

Today, I had a studying for a Discourse Approach in Reading.

I learned about the Exemplification, Exemplification writing uses specific, vivid examples for the purpose of adding more information to explain, persuade, define, or illustrate a general idea. Likewise, exemplification provides solid support and strong evidence to prove the writer's main statement. Appropriate examples also create interest in a writing assignment.

The teacher assigned our to practice in sheet.

Text 1: we read text and complete the diagram and highlight the Exemplification marker.
Text 2: we read the text and match the place with the activities, I thought that this text was easiest.
Text 3: we read the text and answer the questions correctly.
Finally, text 4: I read the text and answer the questions.

I didn't have a problem in this class but I was tired because I didn't have a weekend. I know that my teacher is tired more than me.
I was so happy and very full in this day because my friends gave me some food to test after their presentation. It was very delicious.
